Morning All,

I have a race thats worthy of backing 2 horses in the same race.

I have studied the race along the lines of the Jockey Club Handicappers,
so for now i will call it - Through the eyes of the Jockey Club Handicappers.

P.S. Do remember, nothing is a sure fire winner, even they ( jockey club
handicappers get it wrong - the same applies to the likes of Timeform etc )
Just thought i must put this foreward.
Only bet to what you can afford to lose.

4-20 R Ascot at - YORK

No. 4. NOTABILITY - win
No. 10. WALKONTHEWILDSIDE - win

Cheers
Ken

Good luck!

I have never, ever bet on a horse race and never been to a bookmakers, but I am going to watch this thread with interest and perhaps you can convert me - especially as it can all be done on line now.

Are there any online bookmakers that are easier to understand for 'racing virgins'?

No. 10. WALKONTHEWILDSIDE - win

Non Runner

Me too. I love dabbling on the horses as a past-time and have tried for a long time without success to devise a winning system.

One observation.

I always thought it was best from a probability viewpoint to limit bets to races with a maximum of 7 or 8 runners. Your selected race today has a lot of runners ( 21 at the last count ) and so the chances of success on any one horse are markedly reduced.

Ladbrokes have a good site with a decent bet calculator.

Sporting Odds site is good also but there are hundreds of them.

Hi Jill,

I thank you for your post.

Yes, there are bookies that you can bet with on line.

The 2 that i would recommend are - Ladbrokes and William Hill.

There are of course others ( to many to mention )

Ladbrokes, the minimum stakes to deposit is $5-00 pounds ( sorry for the
dollar, the pound symbol is giving me the gate symbol )
The minimum stakes for a single win is 50p and upwards.
The great advantage is, if your horse wins and you withdraw your winnings
it goes into your bank the same day.

As for William Hill, the minimum deposit is $2-00 pounds
the minimum stakes for a single win is $1-00 pound
but the difference is, when you withdraw your winnings, it normally takes
2 - 3 days before its in your bank account.

I hope you find this helpful.

Do feel free to ask me if you may have any questio/s, and if i can help
i will do so, in the mean time, take care and good luck in what you choose
to do, and good luck in what ever you're doing.
Have a nice day.

Regards
Ken

Number of runners ?

Hi Salty,

I would tend to agree with you to a certain point as regards the number of
runners.
Take Chester course, there i would take into account the numbers of runners as
its a tight track and the draw plays an important role.

As for York, yes, at certain distances the draw can play a part, but as in my race
today, its 1 mile and at this distance, low numbers tend to have an advantage, not
always i may add.

I'll end by saying its all a matter of opinions and guide lines as to where you draw
a line.

Cheers

Loser today Ken. Favourite won it.

Too many horses in the race for my liking.

Better luck tomorrow though.

Hi Ken no winners to day !

I see your new web page is getting some attention
keep enjoying the fun
kind regards

This may be a dumb question but why on earth are they holding Royal Ascot at York and not at Ascot ?

Ascot are laying an AW racing track and building new stands.

Advices for tomorrow - 17-06-05

Good Evening All or Good Morning all,

Selections for tomorrow the - 17-06-05.

THROUGH THE EYES OF THE JOCKEY CLUB HANDICAPPERS.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

P.S. Get the best price possible if you're having a go.

5-30 R Ascot at - YORK

No. 5. NATIONAL TRUST - win bet
No. 8. QUIZZENE - win bet

** The one i fear that could pose a threat to the selections is - Consular

Good luck in what you choose to do.

Regards
Ken

P.S. As for todays ( yesterday ) selection, that was not hes true running,
hes capable of a much better performance.
in saying that, i doubt very much that he would have beaten the winner.
Put the winner down in your note book, as the way it won, it would not
surprise me if connections were to step it up in listed races, and who
knows what there after.
But i have a feeling that connections might target it with another decent
handicap race while its still fairly weighted.

Would you normally advocate getting early odds ?

Salty,

Yes, i would, but it depends at time.

Some times you gain and other time you don't or you may even
break even.

Cheers
Ken

Sporting Odds currently ( 10.15 am ) quoting :_

National Trust 9/2
Quizzene 7/2

Consular might be worth an EW bet at 11/1, I would have thought judging by your comments Ken.

Ladbrokes better at 6/1, 4.5/1 and 12/1 respectively.

Obviously better to shop around. :cheesy:

Hi, i know this is kens slot, just like to add some interesting info,
I have an office in a block and there are 3 different tipping/info outfits in the same block,
my office is next to one of them, i hear them all day, they are on the phones getting people to put money on horses for them,
i used to think these outfits gave a different horse to different people but these guys don't, i've heard them say they get the info from owners ect but i've also heard them lie as well(about results),
i think they call these services 'odds to' services
they gave the winner yesterday in the 4.20 Mostashaar
this morning they are giving No. 8. Quizzene in the 5.30 to their 'clients'

Lastly to Ken
if you go to control panel then your regional and languages options then languages tab then input options you can then change your keyboard to uk which i'm sure it's not at the moment.
