I can see the financial stuff on the DOW on the ladbrokes.com

Useful as a live price feed.

I think it has something to do with Cantor.

5-minute moving odds. No way to hedge is there? Can't close position after unlike in-running in Betfair?

The odds are dreadful, on one of they bets, You get the current Dow level lets say it is trading at 10700. Now in the next 5 mins you can bet if it be higher or lower, the odds are 5/6 on. This bet should be Evens, where the hell did they come up with 5/6 on for this bet.

It is the same with hour and Dailys. There is other bets on there, you need time to look at them. see what you think.

believe it or not thats a pretty cheap way to trade 5 mins , markets can move a lot in 5 mins but mostly they don't ,if you win 20%is cost , if 2pts is spread with say cmc , you have to win more than 10 points in 5 mins to make it cheaper not an easy average to maintane !! longer time frames reverse probably true

If Betfair's financial platform was as good as Ladbroke's it should be more attractive. Ladbroke's for the financials has a professional feel to it. Whether to trade it is another matter.

Could work at scalping with the retracements from plunges and surges, but the odds quoted at 5/6 for at-the-monies don't give much potential for windfalls. Position disadvantages. Though, the platform feels professional.

Dude, that's called the book makers margin........it's like a spread 48/52

Seriously disadvantages, really. 5 minutes Static Odds/Moving Level for FTSE quotes at about 1.4 to 1.6 spread for a 1/1. Better off trading with the normal spreadbet companies I should say.

To Bernard Chumley

No you got in worng. Why I say it should be an evens bet is,because you have got no control over the next 5 mins, what the market will do and you have not got the option to get out. So in my opinion this bet should be evens. With bet fair you pay like you say 48.52 but if it goes up in the next 3min by 10 point you will make 6 pips.and got the option to take profit. But with ladbrokes 5 minutes Static Odds/Moving Level if the market went up 10 points in 3 mins.but in the next 2 mins in came back down, you don't win nothing.

Unless they change the 5 & hourly & daily, Static Odds/Moving Level to Evens and not 5/6 on I cant see many playing.

Sorry Einstein, you have no way to get out of it? ermmmm just go the other way and you have reversed your positon to flat.......

Don't pal me, I know what im saying over time its a no win play. Even if you do what you say and a bet in the opposite, you still be down it is an odds on bet."don't you get it."

If you won 50 trades and lost 50 trades. On a 100 pound bet. you be down 1,000 quid. Now a 50/50 in the real market you can make a lot of money on a 50/50.Because you got some control over price. With Static Odds/Moving Level you got no control, thats why it should be an Evens bet.

Robertral do you make any money form the markets, You could have fooled me.

Well take a look at the line bets on the sports (5/6 and 10/11, it must be a consistency thing)....how would they make money if they have continous flow all day? using 50/50 I think the bets are good value....Why should they be a charity?

Also fella, "do you make any money form the markets, You could have fooled me.", just take your £10 stake size and try and tarde instead of wasting your life away trying to understand the basics of a very basic product.....jsut sit at home and enjoy the security of of being indoors with your little compuetr and ur broad band connection waiting to start ur shift at ur local BK....good day to u sir

Look here I do this full time. trading the S&P & YM.If there is something new in the market such as Ladbrokes, I will take a look, to see if it is any use to me. The same with trader games. i was taken 800 quid a week from this site. plus my trading with www.globalfutures.com.

You are welcome to trade against me, at www.tradergames.com we see who is the better trader. But I don't think you take my offer up. My screen name on there is Momtic.

What kind of bet is this for value

High line 5301 if the market stays below this level you get 1/20 on

current level 5291

low line 5282 if the market stays above this level you get 1/20 on

So the current price is 5282 and if you think the market wont go down past 5282 , you would place a trade of 2000 quid to win 100, what kind of bloody odds are these.
