Hi,

I have worked for 7 years in macro/ prop trading in the fixed income and fx area. I have now been given a solid introduction about an equity execution job in a great firm. I am looking for some advise before I meet the head guys there. I have been recommended by someone who works there but I am concerned about the cross over from products and concerned they might be sceptical about me moving from a decision making prop area to a service role in execution.

It is someone I want to do right now and would like some advise on how to convey this to them and alleviate any concerns they have.

Thanks

Execution trading is not that bad, stable salary and also you might be able to prop the company's book.
All within the limits 

So I would say give it a chance, you will at least gain some experience.

well i haven't fully decided yet. salary is good and obviously less stress and no possibility of losing money. I would prefer to stay in prop trading but only at a top firm and be in a position to have big years but in the current environment that is unlikely. I am concerned about the long term prospects with execution trading though. Any suggestions? should i keep working on prop trading with my own money? should i give execution trading a couple of years ? after a couple of years will it be impossible toget back into prop trading?

Surely the current environment is exactly what you want if you're looking for big years!!

Because thee markets are volatile, they are moving a lot and so you've got more oppotunities to take more money out of them.

do some more online applications, you have nothing to lose,

It can be a good experience if you are working for the right company, you can suggest your head trader to trade the book due to your experience
