Hello Everyone,

New to the Trade to Win website today...looking for some help/advice if possible

I am looking at expanding my existing basic buy&hold strategy to that of day trading..

Have come across a company called "Online Trading Academy" or OTA for short, they are based near St Albans Hertfordshire..I went to a free seminar recently & am really sold on what they offer, does anyone have any feedback from attending one of there 7 day courses (which cost £3295).It's alot of initial investment for me, but obviously a good one if I can apply the knowledge and make money.

I have heard of all the negative Darren Winn/Winn investing stories, but these guys at OTA seem really genuine..

Any thoughts would be highly appreciated...
Thanks in Advance,
Darren (Not Winn!)

Darren,

Don't pay for any course. If the guys are that good, why aren't they trading themselves?

Everything you need is free here on T2W or elsewhere. Just ask - there are many experts on T2W.

Grant.

Their website:

Free Trading Workshop - Online Trading Academy - Day Trading Seminar - Stock Trading

UK branch of US company, can't comment on their quality.

If you are successful buy /hold then you should be capable of using T2W + free answers to Q's. £3k+ also buys quite a few decent books and leaves plenty of change.:)

If i was spending that sort of money [and i wouldn't] I think I'd go for an individual, quality trading coach as opposed to class course.

Online Trading Academy - been on the 7 day course?

Thank you for your contributions guys, I hear what you say & totally respect your viewpoints..

Has anyone on here actually been on the 7 day course (or know anyone that has)?

Thanks again in advance.

Darren

Hi darren
I've researched OTA for the last 6 months and haven't found any 'bad' news at all. I'm new to trading but have been a succesful businessman for the last 10 years so know a little bit about carrying out due diligence before parting with any cash! I'm attending the seven day pro trading course next week - prior to this I've done the Robert Newgrosh New Skills Technical Analysis courses which were excellent. I see the OTA course as the next stepping stone and am not expecting it to be some kind of holy grail - I've met with the uk managing director Georgie Cox who seems like a very genuine likeable girl - again I've researched her personally and have found nothing dodgy. My view re costs is that having put two kids thru university the ota costs seem reasonable if the course delivers what it says - one key thing that attracted me was that the trainers have to be active and successful traders. Will let you know how I get on!

Hi darren

Wayne, what and you believe them? You think they're going to tell you otherwise, wouldn't help with the marketing of courses would it?

Also, it's your first post which is 'favourable' towards a company selling what looks to be another overpriced course. Don't take offence but it's very hard to take your comments seriously.....

Hello Everyone,
but these guys at OTA seem really genuine..

They normally always do Darren.......

Plenty of form against these overpriced seminar selling firms so again tread very carefully.

You might also want to inquire about 'follow up courses' that they just happen to run. This means you take course 1 but that's not enough but don't worry there's course 2 to help you. But then comes an offer to buy the 'power traders super profits course' then when you take that another offer comes in, but it's only for a very 'select few' and it's called the 'Power traders Day Trading Mastery course' and then another offer and another etc.

Gotta milk the customers you know :cheesy::cheesy:

This 'testimonial' made me laugh.

"If you're thinking of trading the market, it is very important you educate yourself before doing it and with this course, it over qualified my expectations... I see people that have no idea of day trading, to traders who have years of experience taking this class and learned a lot. Never stop learning...And best of all, the tuition you pay is reimbursed back."
Ruel O.

Think about it, if you went on a course that was excellent and wrote a letter or email in thanking them you'd say something like

'great course, well done, really enjoyed myself and have started to make some small profits. Hopefully they'll grow overtime. Thanks again guys'.

Now look at the 'testimonial' from 'Ruel O'. Would anyone actually write in like that because to me it looks very very strange. In reality it reads like an advert.

Whatever the case thanks for letting me know about the site, I always like a good laugh when reading the testimonials.

Wonder if anyone else with zero posts is going to pop up and say something about OTA? Wonder if they're going to be positive, indifferent or negative towards them?

If anyone does post I have a sneaky suspicion which slant their post will take :)

Hi Anley
No offence taken and you may well be right! I've tried to make a decision based on what I've found out about the company - at the end of the the day its all down to proof of the pudding etc..As far as overpriced is concerned, in my previous business life I've paid between £400-£600 a day for professional training for staff in various subjects so maybe I've been price conditioned! Just one observation not just directed at you but so far as a newbie the level of cynicism I've come across re this topic is amazing - if the course I'm about to take turns out to be crap I'll be the first to let you know - if however it turns to be great and I post that - will anyone believe it? Damned if you do, damned if you dont...

Hi Wayne,
Thanks for taking the time to reply (& in such depth too) - I really appreciate that you say you will let me know re the course, after you have attended next week.I look forward to it.
Darren

Hi Anley

Learn to be cynical in this business it WILL save you a fortune. And why wouldn't anyone be cynical, you make ZERO posts on this board and then suddenly pop up in relation to this course giving it a general thumbs up. Fishy or what, in fact a real cynic would put a large amount of money on the fact that darren's original question was a plant in the first place.........

Still waiting for the next person with almost no posts on this board to pop up writing positive things :cheesy::cheesy:

Hi Anley/Darren
Dont see how the number of posts is relevant - I'd been searching for any bad news/comments about OTA and came across Darrens post and was trying to help - I'm not at all experienced in using this kind of forum - it seems to have a life of its own and is a bit self fulfilling although I can absolutely see how it can be manipulated for commercial reasons. The thing is- if you dont want to spend months/years reading up on this subject in isolation and you dont want to reinvent the wheel in terms of planning risk management strategy execution etc - who do you trust? In business I've always tried to find people that are more knowledgeable and succesful than me to learn from and then replicate what they do.

Has it worked ?

online trading academy

I am also doing the Online Academy course.
what is impressive about it is:-
(1) you get assigned a MENTOR to help you - and it is for life - not for a few months
(2) the trainers are TOP TRADERS - not just some novices who trade for a while
(3) all course are for LIFE - free repetition anywhere in the world - for life
(4) course are 7 days - and you get full support for life - not for a while
(5) Yes - they do have follow up courses but not in the same field. so if you want to go into options - yes there is another course - but that is to be expected - they are not pretending that there is just one course for everything
(6) you also get lifetime access to their trading club
so overall - compared to greg or darren winters courses - they offer much more. there is no time limit - you learn until you get it. and your mentors are world class traders

anyone been - I would welcome their comments - I have just registered - not attended yet.

I have been to other courses that were total crap.

this one seems different - but time will tell

they've said that if I am not impressed - I will get a refund - and they have written this into the contract.

hiya

i'm a big fan of OTA, have been on a couple of their courses and the webinar XLT, so i have no axe to grind. But ... be careful not to get too carried away with the sales pitch. May i correct you?

  • you do not get a mentor for life. you can informally email questions to the tutors, but there is no obligation to reply.
  • the trading 'Grads' club at St Albans is £30/month

How about one of these courses teach someone for FREE then and only charge them if that person is profitable?

Its all about how you interpret the education, how much time you dedicate to trading, whether you develop your learning, how you analyse the results and change your plan to suit. I guess 75% of people after attending courses dont do the above and lose interest once they have blown 50% of their account or more, or just Sim trade for many months or even years. I know a few people that fit the above. Therefore it would be imposible for these courses to be commercially viable if the income was say 25% of overhead and then only after sucess had been measured say 1-2 years. :)

And there's their get out clause right there when you ask for your refund.
