Hello all.

I've started to read up on everything, and am planning to buy a few books to read to get a basic understanding, and to try and get to grips with trading.

I know it will not be easy, and will require effort, I want to try without 'shortcuts', I know it will take as long as it takes.

After a while though, where do I move onto? Is there any demos or simulators to try and get a better understanding? Or is it a case of learning from experience?

Thanks

Hi Radec, welcome to the forum, I thought some of the more experienced traders might of answered your question by now but ill help you along until they arrive, What type of trading are you wanting to do or to put it different, what will suit your lifestyle ? sitting in front of a screen all day getting involved in the action? or long term investment ?

use a demo to start backtesting a strategy. A strategy that works for you, rather than someone else's. refine that strategy, backtest it, make notes on how well you do, etc. trade on demo when you think you have something..see how well you did compared to historic backtests. refine that further, test again on demo.
getting better? good, test it some more..
then you're good to go

dont dive straight in ............spend a few weeks dipping in and out of forums and get a feel for whats what in this huge business we call trading

then get a demo from a reputable broker and play for pretend money

seriously ?........it takes years to make consistent money......but sounds like you know that already so you are 50% there already !

Thank you.
When I think I see a preferred strategy and want to test and see how it works for me. How am I able to find a demo to use?

a demo brokerage account..choose a broker that has one, demo your strategy on that..alternatively with your charting package, you would be looking at historical occurances of the same condition presenting itself. that would be my starting point on a demo

Find someone to tutor you through the various minefields imho. Save you years of doubtful work.

Did you complete the babypips school ? That's the first step imo. Then you can proceed further with the adequate knowledge
