Hi folks! I'm MugPunter and I'm new here.

I'm interested in knowing who the winners and losers are in trading. There are big investment banks that seem to make a lot of money in trading. If they are the winners, then who are the losers? Or is everybody winning?

Some organisations have a lot of capital but no special knowledge / remit to trade in the market themselves. They hand the money on to someone else to trade it for them and they pay for the service, even if no trades are taken and even if these lead to a loss.

It could be the purest capitalism, making money from money. There aren't winners and losers within capitalism, just buyers and sellers: the losers are outside the system.

Understand that the money investment banks, etc. make in trading oftentimes comes from market-making and such activities - especially now that so-called proprietary trading is being reduced or eliminated.
