So I have looking into selecting a few closed ended mutual funds as my current mutual fund with a certain high street bank ain't going to well.

What I want to know is what do I look for when selecting a mutual fund? I mean I can't go looking at the financials and various other ratios, I don't think TA really applies to this at all. I can go read on the company about the fund but of course the company is going to be very bullish about it and claim it to be the best thing since sliced bread. I mean this is really a different ball game compared to Forex and Shares, are there any books or websites on how to succeed with mutual funds?

Don't you think it's a good idea to decide what kind of exposure you're after before you go looking at funds? Maybe then you'll be in a better position evaluate which best suits your needs.

Need to kind of explain it a bit more I do have a shortlist of funds which are suitable for me. But how do i decide if one is better for me than the other. What do I need to look at exactly?

Like I say it depends on what kind of exposure you're after. Maybe look at the risk profile and past results of the manager? Historical returns? Changes in holdings?

I'm no professional but that's some of the stuff I'd be looking at.
