The T2W forum is a place to share information, seek help and contribute to everyoneís development as a Trader. We are a community and should behave like one.

We want T2W to be a place where you can discuss trading, free from nasty comments and people trying to sell you things.

Following these basic rules will make sure that we achieve this aim together.

1.01 People have a right to be treated properly. Forums are notorious for human beings behaving badly toward each other. We donít want this on T2W. If you donít like someone, think their question is stupid, have had a bad day and whatever else you think excuses bad behaviour then deal with it some other way. If it appears on the forums and crosses a line then you can expect it to be dealt with by us.

1.02 Donít feed the trolls. Every community has a small but very vocal number of people who add nothing of value. They deliberately cause trouble and offence and clearly have little else to do with their time. Your job is not to rise to the bait. Ignore them and report them. They will soon get fed up and go somewhere else.

1.03 Donít post rubbish. This isnít You Tube, it is a site dedicated to Trading and should be treated as such. There are plenty of places where you can post whatever you like. We donít want it here unless it is about trading.

1.04 This isnít a freedom of speech site. We can be liable for what you post and this could cost us a lot of money. We may have to delete things to protect us from this. So if you want to campaign freely and be allowed to say whatever you like then you will have to find somewhere else to do it. This does not mean you canít express an opinion, just do so sensibly and within the rules.

1.05 Make sure you follow the posting guidelines. They are there for a reason and it gets annoying when posts appear all over the place and/or in the wrong place. This is not asking much so do your bit for everyoneís benefit.

1.06 No selling allowed. Any form of selling is unacceptable. The forum has to be a safe place; it canít be this if you are trying to sell your products and services. If you see this happening then report it and it will be dealt with. Thereís more about this in the separate vendor policy (Vendor Policy)

1.07 Donít abuse our team. We have a duty of care for all the members of our team and will not tolerate any form of abuse directed at them. This is a zero tolerance policy so donít do it. Also we donít respond to aggression or threats, stay polite and you will be fine.

1.08 If you break the rules expect to be dealt with. Depending on what you have done, you may be warned, suspended for a short time or banned completely. This is regardless of how long you have been a member and how much you have contributed. And donít forget we depend on you to report things that you feel have broken the rules as we canít spot everything.

1.09 It is how you behave that counts. We donít have the time to investigate why you might feel a certain way or who may be right or wrong in a given situation. So, we will look at what you actually do, how you conduct yourself and react accordingly. No solution is ideal and we want to allow full and frank discussion but if we have to step in and police things we will.

1.10 Donít be harsh with newcomers. We do all we can to guide new members but they will still post what appear to be the wrong questions often in the wrong place. Show some tolerance and help if you can, treating them harshly is against what we stand for so donít do it. If you think they are not genuine, report them.

1.11 Posting on T2W is a privilege not a right. This is a privately owned site and nobody has to pay to be here. Any inappropriate posts or any issues that take up a disproportionate amount of site resources, or make it a worse place to be, can be stopped at our discretion. We have to prioritise our spend and will not waste valuable resources dealing with things that do not warrant it. For this reason, if you use TOR (the anonymity network) and start any kind of trolling activity you will be banned immediately (since it's highly likely you're a multi-nick, which means you've had all the warnings in a previous incarnation and don't deserve the same chances as others).

Vendor Policy

We depend on our approved advertisers for revenue. Most people accept and understand this, it works here and it works in other forums. These advertisers know the rules and they leave our members and guests to decide whether or not to contact them.

With any other form of advertising we have a zero tolerance policy.

This includes (but is not limited to) the following:

  • Using an avatar that shows your logo/business name or some other form of promotion.
  • Putting any link in your content (including charts) to the firm you represent/ are trying to promote.
  • Mentioning your firm/the firm you represent in any manner that can be construed as promotional and trying to drum up business.
  • Offering a free trial of your product or service.
  • Asking people to contact you to find out more about your products/services either openly or by private message.
  • Posting minimal content deliberately designed to tempt people to find out more.
  • Posting references or excerpts from your product or service.

You will be warned once and if you offend again you will be banned. If you try to come back under a different name weíll keep on banning you until you get the message.

The Ďgood guyí vendors

Many people would have you believe that all vendors are crooks, which is clearly nonsense. However, this market is certainly one of the worst I have ever experienced for its ability to attract scammers and fraudsters of the worst kind.

Despite this, within the vendor group there are people who run proper firms, from the one man band through to the major broker and Iíll not tolerate these people being hounded off our forums as long as they stick to the rules.

There is plenty of evidence both here and on our colleague forums (BMT,FF,Elite etc) of vendor members posting useful and informative content and being treated with respect when doing so.

So Iím going to let this practice continue here for now and weíll see how it goes. But if you break the rules youíll be dealt with in exactly the same way as any other vendor, regardless of your level of contribution.

In return Iíll expect you to deal with or report any flaming and Iíll deal with that robustly as well. This is my chosen policy for T2W,† anyone who does not like it can say so, but they canít then flame the vendor member in question without facing sanctions.

Iíll be keeping a close eye on this but I hope it is now clear where I stand on this subject.

Company representatives

Experience here and elsewhere has shown that it can be very helpful for a representative of a firm to deal with questions from members. Occasionally they have crossed the line a bit into promotion and been warned accordingly, but overall it has worked pretty well in my view.

So Iím going to formalise this and introduce a ĎCompany Representativeí grade of member. Anyone can apply for this status but Iíll need to be sure that it is in the interests of members.

If the firm is already on our approved list of advertisers then generally Iíll allow it, if they are on our black list I will not. Anything else Iíll take a view.

Iíll also allow an exception to the avatar rule but no other links will be permitted unless they directly relate to the question being answered and do not solicit further or new business.

Content suppliers

Much rubbish has been written about vendors writing content for articles, books and so on. I donít accept that all vendor produced content is of no value but if we are to allow content written by a vendor then the first question has to be ďis it any good?Ē This applies regardless of where it came from.

Once this test is passed the next question has to be about how much of the vendors product is promoted within the text. The answer should be none at all and if this is evident it should be removed or the content refused.

The only reference will be to the name of the author and their firm or business name but with no linking. If people want to find out more thatís their choice and they can use google to do so.

So weíll continue to publish and/or link to content that is deemed of some value to our target audience but it will be subject to much closer scrutiny.

Finally, Iíll reject anything that is written by someone who I believe belongs in the Ďwrongí group and that is regardless of whether it is promotion free or not. There are some characters/firms who we simply should not be associated with and Iíll decide who these are.

Policing the policy.

We donít actively moderate content. We rely on reported posts and will continue to do so. In writing this policy I have tried to take some of the uncertainty out of the situation so Iím hoping this will make the reporting of vendor mischief a more fruitful experience.

The groomers

This is one of the hardest areas to deal with. You know the story, a few posts promising help and guidance, then a few indicators and great trades etc etc, then the hook.

But thereís no evidence of wrong doing initially and no declaration of being a vendor but experience tells us that most people show their true colours before very long.

Iím still not prepared to delete these posts immediately but we will be keeping a closer eye on them and challenging the poster as necessary. In addition we will no longer allow posts from new members or those with a limited number of useful posts along the lines of; ďanyone heard ofÖĒ ďwhat do you think of Ö.Ē ďI have found a greatÖĒ

Commercial area

I am currently working on a revised layout for the forums and as part of this we are going to set up a commercial area. This will be for all threads/posts about brokers, software and data feeds and education/training and will keep all of these things out of the main forums. Any threads started elsewhere on these subjects will be moved to here.

This is obviously where the Company Representatives will post but Iíll not restrict vendor members to this area as long as they work within the rules and continue to make a valuable contribution to the community.

How to use the forums

1. Posting Threads

1.1 Each forum has a different topic. Please make sure you find a forum and topic that best fits the subject of your new message.
1.2 Browse a topic first or use the search facility to see if your question has already been asked or answered by someone else.
1.3 Don't start threads if:
- You are just responding to another thread that has been locked/deleted by a moderator.
- You are asking why a previous thread was locked/deleted by a moderator.
- You just want to complain about other people's behaviour or forum content.
1.4 Don't post just to increase your post count.
1.5 You can post images subject to copyright restrictions and it is up to you to check these out. Don't include any images of a sexual or offensive nature. Any links to clearly offensive or pornographic materials will be removed immediately.
1.6 Do not spam. This is posting forum messages that offer no significant value to the topic. Most of these kinds of posts are just single-word posts that have no meaning or value whatsoever.
1.7 Keep your posts related to the topic of the thread. Irrelevant posts, particularly those which are intended to take the thread completely off topic, will be moved to a new thread, or may be removed altogether.
1.8 Please don't double post (two posts in a row). If you need to amend a post, do so by using the edit button next to your original post.
1.9 Don't post the same message more than once, in different forums.
1.10 If you want to complain about some content, use the 'Report Post' button at the bottom left of the offending post.

2. Mentioning other Web sites

2.1 You can mention, link to, or discuss other Web sites that are of interest to our members, as long as they don't violate any of our guidelines. Please don't use our community to generate traffic for another trading community. We'll delete posts that mention or link to our competitors for the sole purpose of encouraging our users to participate elsewhere.

3. Signature Rules

3.1 Signatures should not be excessively long or distracting.
3.2 You can't use your signature to advertise.
3.3 Signatures cannot include any link, identifiable URL or email address. Identifying your company name or type of business is not permitted unless the principal reason for using the site is the representation of the company to address members' questions and support issues.

4. No Advertising

4.1 You can't post advertisments of any kind anywhere on the site.
4.2 If you want to advertise contact
4.3 Advertising includes, but is not limited to:
- Posting the URL of your commercial web site.
- Offering for sale (or a free trial of) your product.
- Posting references to, excerpts from, or details of your product.
- Posting with minimal content that is clearly designed to act as a lure towards your product.
- Posting your email address or asking members to contact you for details of your product .
4.4 Exceptions:
- Substantial content that derives from or is connected to a commercial product (e.g extracts from a subscription-only newsletter) may be permitted provided that the content is deemed useful to the community by the moderators and provided that there is absolutely no direct reference to its commercial nature.
-Members with no connection to commercial products may mention them where relevant.
-Vendors may answer specific questions that relate to an aspect of their product, provided that they do not use their response as a means of promoting it.
4.5 Anyone who has a commercial interest in selling/marketing their product to T2W members must declare this interest in their personal user profile. Failure to do this may result in you being banned from the site.

5. Changing your user name.

5.1 If you forget your login details or wish to change your user name then email for help, please do not simply re-register. Anyone found using multiple accounts will have all additional accounts deleted and may be subject to sanctions . Usernames can only be changed in exceptional circumstances as determined by T2W .

6. Respect for Moderators

6.1 Moderators are site members who freely give their time to ensure that discussions are friendly and civilised and conducted in accordance with the site's guidance. The forums could not function in the way that they do without the activities of the moderators and their efforts should be appreciated by all who use the site.
6.2 Please remember the moderators are volunteers. Try not to make their tasks even more time consuming by seeking to draw them into debate on the implementation of the rules in any particular case. Any thread which appears to be going down this route will be closed and/or removed .

7. Reporting posts

7.1 You will find "Report Post" links that look like this: in many places throughout the forums. You can use these links to alert moderators of anything which you believe to be in breach of the guidelines so that they can deal with it.

8. Violations of the guidelines

8.1 Any violation of these guidelines, the site and forum terms and conditions or the Community Constitution will result in a warning from a member of the moderation team. Any further violations may result in a temporary or full ban from the site.
8.2 Any member subject to a suspension will be permitted to read the forums, but not post.
8.3 In exceptional circumstances, and at the discretion of the site moderators, members may be immediately and permanently banned from the website without any prior warning. Such circumstances include, but are not limited to, sexual harassment, personal abuse towards another member, racist comments or blatant advertising.
