I am about to start putting together my first automated trading system, and I am not sure where to start. As i am asking for your input, as this project develops I intend to keep you fully updated on the code and systems I am using and the profit I am making.

My current job is in the field of mathematical modeling, and i am familiar with most math related software (matlab,maple,TeX,R etc) and some trading software (Metatrader, Genesis trade navigator, etc). Additionally I am currently learning C++ for work, which i imagine will come in handy.
