the rules that I had set out to follow - moving
stop losses to try and let a position breath, taking
profits to early & not using my filtering rules.

The book that changed everything for me was Way
of the Turtle by the most successful of the Turtles
Curtis Faith.

A group of traders hired in the eighties to trade
certain markets in the Chicago trading pits.

They were taught a basic set of rules to follow over
two weeks training & never to drift from them despite what
state the market was in.

Curtis Faith was the most successful turtle for Richard
Dennis making a profit of $30m in four years.

This is an absolute fantastic book & a must have for any
trader - think you know alot about trading, well read this
& you might see this alot differently.

Mark

I'm looking to get into prop trading after I finish university.

Could anyone please recommend any firms globally with:
- A strong training program. The longer and more in-depth the better, I'm looking to learn as much as possible.
- That would allow me post-training to trade a variety of markets - I'm very interested in global macro trading, are there any prop firms that specialize in this area?

Thanks in advance!!

95% fails, only 5% succeeds?
I notice, there seems to be this general consensus that only 5% turns out to be the successful traders.
but really, what differentiates traders between successful vs terrible ones?
someone w/ positive profit is successful?
someone w/ negative profit is terrible ones?

In my belief, there would be at least 4 types of traders;

"terribly bad"
"marginally bad",(someone who's not terribly bad, but not good enough to make living out of it)
"marginally good"(someone who makes profit just enough to live stable life)
"really good"(someone who earns millions of dollar)

and here's my real question.
does 5% includes both "marginally good" and "really good" traders?
or does "only 5% succeeds" really mean only 5% gets to the level of living an extravagent life?

if someone who earns any sort of profit through trading is only 5%, then this job shouldn't be encouraged, right?

I have a phone interview with a brokerage firm (for a graduate programme) within in the next week and was wondering whether anyone could tell me the type of questions to expect?

They have told me to expect it to last about 20mins.

Any help would be much appreciated.

An RIA has offered me the opportunity to raise funds for their HFs. They only charge a mngmt fee. To assist me in raising funds, I am thinking about partnering up with broker-dealers/advisors, and offering them a percentage of the client fees from the management fee for dollars introduced. However, there isn't enough to go round from just the management fee (for RIA, me & B/D), so I am thinking of increasing the mgmt fee and tacking on a performance fee as well (funds have done well over quite some time).

However, the RIA does not want to change their own fee structure, nor particularly partner up with other firms. Does anyone have any thoughts as to what I can do / how I can get around this?

All thoughts welcome.
