It looks like I might be about to get offered a place as a trainee trader with a prop firm (fingers crossed). I was just wondering what people think good terms of a first contract are. For example, % cut, retainer (if any), level of access to funds, length of training period/amount of tutoring provided, degree of freedom etc etc.

As it's my first position I'm not expecting to negotiate amazing terms, I just want to get a better idea of what reasonable terms are that give me a good chance of being succesful.

Thanks.

Sorry for the double post (I posted one in the my first post section) as this should be the place to ask I guess. The companies below had recently posted Trainee Forex Trader position (Singapore) in Straits Times (Singapore most popular newspaper). Had tried to google for more information but could not find any info other than the company's website. A search in the forum tells me that I had to be mathematically cerify(take test) and MAY need to forked out a sum of money. But what I would like to know is whether I do really need to fork out a sum of money just to get the job position. Greatly appreciate if there are anyone who had first hand experience with the companies.

I'm currently looking for an entry level trading position and was wondering if anyone can tell me what other firms are similar to IMC, Optiver, All Options, and Tibra in terms of company structure, business model, product focus, etc.

I'm interested in this type of firm as opposed to pure performance based payout firms which require risk capital and would greatly appreciate if you guys could help me out. Another consideration is geographical location as firms like these tend not to look at candidates without the required work authorization (I'm Canadian/Hong Kong citizen).

Its very hard to find a comprehensive list of proprietary trading firms and gather information about them. I've found a couple lists online but was hoping the members on this forum could provide their insight.

Thank you all in advance.

Hi guys, I have an interview in a couple weeks with a European prop trading firm in Hong Kong for a trainee trader position (i'm a fresh grad) and was wondering if anyone could gimme any info in regards to typical compensation for this type of position. I was asked to provide an expected salary during a preliminary screening phone call but i postponed it till the face 2 face since I didn't have enough information.

The firm I am interviewing with is similar to IMC, Optiver, All Options, and Tibra. As I am also looking at the bulge bracket banks I provided a range of 30-50k HKD/month which at the current exchange rate works out to about 46-77k USD/yr before bonuses. I know that typical prop firms would have a much lower starting salary and greater emphasis on performance based compensation.

Please if you have any experience with a comparable firm or just know anything about this topic please post as I am sure other members would appreciate this information as well.

I know this is a trading thread, but the questions are somewhat similar to the trading questions, but from a brokerage viewpoint so thought that it could fit in here. I have made it to the 2nd round of interviews with a large broker to attend an assessment centre.

The basic e-mail says that I wil have a panel interview, group assessment and numerical test. Could anyone tell me what to expect in the panel interview and group exercise? Will the numerical test be similar to that of a trader numerical exam eg Probability or just a basic numerical reasoning?

Thanks,
