s3 Signals

I was just about to ask the same question.

Haven't taken on the 14 day free trial as yet but will be doing so in the next couple of weeks.
Will post results in due course.

S3Signals

I have some first hand experience of S3Signals which may be of interest to the forum. I should state that I have no connection with this company apart from being a current subscriber to the auto-traded DAX service currently offered.

I have had my share, possibly more than my share, of con artists over the years, but I think I have finally found someone offering a service that is genuine and most likely to achieve my objectives over the longer term.

This company is run by a guy called Simon Grinter, who claims to be, and is, a Chartered Accountant. He appears to run his service from his home address. The service comprises usually one daily recommendation to buy/sell the DAX index, together with relatively close stops and limits. His approach seems to be to make money by modest daily gains of between 10 of 30 points, nothing sensational, but steady.

Communication, which appears to be primarily by email, has been good, with personal and courteous replies to several quite complicated and detailed queries received quickly, sometimes in the evening.

There are two schemes, one self traded by means of recommendations via simultaneous email and SMS messages to 2 phones, the other auto traded by Simon Grinter direct with Futures Betting in Gibraltar. The first message appears around 8.30 daily. The first scheme has a subscription of £295 per month, with a free 14 day trial before if required. No subscription is required for the auto-traded scheme as no messages are sent out with this service.

I have undergone the 14 day trial. As I was a bit uncertain, I paper traded the recommendations, although I would have made quite a bit of money net had I backed it with real funds.

I have recently joined the auto traded scheme, depositing £10,000 with Futures Bettting. In the four days I have been auto traded, 3 of the 4 days have been winners and one a loser.

It is still early days, and it remains to be seen whether this scheme will prove profitable long term. My experience of S3 has to date however been impressive and Simon Grinter is one the few people who has inspired any confidence in me in what we all know are shark infested waters.

Thanks Capstan, very concise.

I should come clean and admit to trialing S3signals, twice in fact!. Which is my main concern, I had 1 months trial in June/July when they traded 10 different instruments and found it very difficult trying to keep up with the signals while earning a living :-( Although, I was inpressed, I didn't continue. Then in September I trialled the Dax only service for 2 weeks. This was good, but no explanation of the change in direction (any comments Simon Grinter, please?)

Capstan, would you up date on how you get on please, either by PM or on the board? Obviously I wouldn't expect you to break any confidential agreements you have with S3signals and good luck .

Thanks for your comments RGSharp

I think your experience is probably typical of many other people who were just too busy to take up on a regular basis the signals sent out, particularly as these were very varied and at one time involved, as you say, spread betting several stocks as well as indices. Simon Grinter did explain somewhere ( I can't remember if this was in an email or on the S3Signals website) the reasons for his decision to offer the DAX product only, but I gather it was due to very few customers being able to keep up with the flow, and probably also the need to simplify things for his own purposes.

I should perhaps point out that I have no particular connection or channel of communication with Simon apart from as a customer who has bent his proverbial email ear many times in an attempt to assess whether his product really was for me! I have always found his replies helpful.

I will certainly post any significant future developments to the forum if this would be of interest.

My partner is just having the 14 day free trial with S3Signals at the moment. Their system seems to work well, but the statistics they give don't take into account any spreads (2 points on the Dax), so therefore a 10 point win becomes only 8 points and a 10 point loss becomes -12. When you factor this in it really affects the results.

However I have to say that it does look positive.

It seems that if you take the value of the close of the previous day and the value at 8.30am today, then if the value at 8.30am is higher than the previous close you buy, and if it is lower you sell. There has only been 1 occassion in the last two weeks where this wasn't the case and that was yesterday when they didn't call a trade.

I have subscribed to the free trial from S3 and I have to say that it is a very good system. Once the spreads are taken into account and the cost of subscribing, the results would not be as good, but as an index trader of several years experience, I can tell you that the great value of this system is the management. If you follow the instructions and dont mess with the trades, you will do better than average.

Thanks to all, looks positive, so many BS merchants out there. I'm going to live test 14 free trial from tomorrow. I will of course report back in due course. My only initial concern is getting the trades placed quick enough from receipt of signal.

Jonny

JillyB - I took the trial and now subscribe. I have to say you are incorrect and the 10point targets and results in general do take the spread into account, the messaged prices are your actual bid and offer prices so the underlying market may well have moved 11 or 12 pts . Sometimes because of the slight delay in receiving the signal I may be 1 or 2 pts late but it can, and does, also work the other way and give you a more favourable entry. Overall the results you see are what you can acheive.

Thanks for that Kramer. It wasn't explained anywhere that Simons signals for a buy are based on the ask price. Our charts, and I assume most peoples, are set to the bid price, so we were assuming that this was the price he was quoting.

Now I understand this it makes more sense and the figures do indeed look better.

Has your partner decided as to whether they will subscribe or not.?

I have been trialling the S3 system for the past couple of weeks and was very disappointed with the performance. Has anyone else been trading it during the last 2 week period?
I understand from Simon and looking at historic performance that this has been by far the worst trading run since he delevoped the system. I am an experienced trader and overall have been impressed with his stragegy, communication and cautious approach during this difficult period. I had planned to go live this week but feel continued trialling is required. Hopefully this is a short term blip and normal service will resume.

I have been trailing it for approx. the same time and like you I am very disappointed. I certainly would not subscribe untill I have seen at least a few weeks of actual success.

Hi Orky,

No we've decided not to take up a subscription. I've had a two week trial following on from Paul, so we've been able to monitor it for 4 weeks now and it's not been good.

Simon has sent an email out saying that this has been it's worst performance since the system started, but I'm still unhappy with it.

He's been going for trades in one direction and when you've looked at the chart you honestly wonder why. He could be in a buy trade and you can plainly see that the Dax has broken a rising trendline, or has formed a head and shoulders top or whatever and is heading in the opposite direction. Now would you trade this?

You have about as much success with a system if you say take the open at 7.00am and then what the Dax is at 8.30am. If at 8.30am it is above 7.00am you buy and if it is below you sell. It has it's losing trades too, but it's been more successful in the last two weeks than Simon's system.

Hi JillyB

I am of the same opinion. If the systmem has hit a bad patch then offer it free for say the next three months until we can all get our confidence back. If the system is good we would, I am sure, be happy to pay for it but I have my doubts.

Today there was antoher loss on the system and this was afer being 10 points in profit at one point. Sorry but I can't say that I've ben convinced by the system.

Well! I have been considering strongly about subscribing, albeit on Auto-Trading as I travel extensively.
Has anyone any advice for me on the honesty, integrity and profitability of this scheme.

Thank you and good luck to you all,

Steve.
