Google Finance - watch this space

Interesting people move in FX this week.

Google just poached Philip Brittan, Bloomberg's former global head of FX, to head up their new data initiative. Talk is pretty thin on the ground at the moment but what little there is seems to be focusing on the possibility of Google taking on the big boys, ultimately revolutionising the provision of institutional quality real time market data and analytics.

If someone with those sorts of deep pockets fancies a crack at cheap / free data that's absolutely fine by me.

Will post more as and when I see anything of interest, but watch this space I say - that's a VERY interesting hire...

1) I don't understand... shouldn't this read as Google taking on the big boys...??

2) Along a similar tack, aren't Pearson trying to flog off their IDC stake, with BBG (et al) listed as potential bidders?

There was lots of "beta" **** on google finance 2 weeks ago, I don't think this is what you mean though, and the links to the beta didn't work.

Holy cow, I didn't know about Google's Domestic Trends tracker.

Yeah I've seen that before. They come up with some interesting stuff....
