Hi

I have found so, so many threads here about datafeeds, free ones, paid ones, intraday, eod, etc, etc and i just now lost and spoilt for choice.

What do i want data for? I want it for a university project (final project) that is a charting and i think the term is "black box"? package "back test and strategy".

I have got a fair deal of EOD data from Yahoo, how good is this?

Now i want intraday data, for mainly US/UK stocks and indicies, but Europe would be an advantage. My tutor wants us to go to 1min level at the minimum, so i am looking for 1 minute or even point for point.

At the moment, getting it delayed or end of day is fine, but i would like to add real time in at some point, so solutions are required?

Any help is very, very appreciated and i will share my work with whoever wants to have a look, be good to get some Constructive Critisism too, and how well it works...

Thanks

Backtesting data needs extremely high quality data.

You definitely do not want to use Yahoo (or indeed any free source) as such a source unless you are happy with highly erroneous data (eg. splits missing, spinoffs missing etc.)

Many universities subscribe to historical data services. Ask your university library what is available.

thanks for that, i have founds financial reports via uni, but no eod/id data as yet.

can you shed some light on errors in free data please as it be great for a report why not to use free data? an example would be even better, if its an index example, better still...

thanks

thanks for that, sent email to ask if they discount. is the quality of the data good do you know? thanks again.
