Hi All,

I'm after so information regarding online Brokers.

Due to my style of trading, I am unable to constantly monitor my trades during the day and thus having automatic stop losses, entry & exit points is vital for me. ie. Should I have a trade which reaches my preferred exit point, I would like the trade to automatically close allowing me to take profits. Same for the stop losses otherwise I risk running a losing trade!!!

I am currently able to do this via Spread Betting but are there any online brokers out there who offer the same kind of facilities??

I'm currently using ETrade and even though I am happy with the service they provide, I am unable to place stop losses, entry or exit points in advance. Therefore, I keep ending up in a situation where I am unable to take profits, or close trades immediately after my stop loss level is reached :(

Consequently, can anyone recommend an online broker which might offer these facilities??

Many Thanks,

Chorlton

Chorlton.

Maybe it is wiser and safer to revisit your trading style and adapt it to fit your lifestyle.
Automatic this and automatic that can wind up in tears even after it gets off to a good start.

I find that incredible

There are many brokers that offer this - interactive brokers, cybercorp etc etc. watch out for overnight gaps though

Hi Charlton,

Just to let you know that shortly we will be launching a new front end platform on futures that will be able to offer you the functionality that you are looking for. I will let you know when it is available and set you up for a demo if you would be interested.

Marc Quinn (Berkeley Futures Ltd)

IB provides all these functions for lowest commissions. Marc what is your commission structure like?

We can offer these contingent trades at TwoWayFutures. They must be phone executed, for which we charge 50p per lot over our spreads. I would argue that given your circumstances, phone trading sounds better for you anyway.

Please see the thread about my company if you would like more information about us...but we basically offer futures markets as a spread bet. You obviously want to trade as a spreadbet but like the efficiency of futures trading...now we can offer both.

Kind regards

Adrian Buthee

finding a broker

Hello,

I was wondering if you could help me with the reserch for my MBA project.

The project aims to find out what retail traders want from online trading software and to produce a marketing plan for the software. So you know I don't work for a trading company or anything like that I'm actually a civil servant but am interesting in getting into marketing and online trading seemed like an interesting and expanding area to look at.

If you can help that would be great - its just a short survey and I can't tell who has completed it - here is the link if you can help - please let me know if you would like any more information

Many thanks

Hi Chorlton

We will be shortly launching a platform where you can program it to enter orders, including limit and stop orders, when the market reaches a certain levels. Then in effect you can switch it on and leave it to execute your orders for you.

I'll let you know when its available.

although ib may be cheap, id be careful if you are trading futures with them. i know of a few people who have had serious complaints with the stability of their platform and data feed.

remember there is always more to brokerage than cheap costs. you also need someone who will stand up for you when things go wrong.

you never said if you are trading stocks, futures, options, forex etc. this can make a difference as some will offer certain tyopes of orders such as 'one-cancells-other' which will be useful if you want to put a profit order and a stop in at the same time - but not have stale orders in the market if one gets hit - could find yourself with another unwanted position.

There is no debate. If you trade equities or options,e-minis mainly on the US market www.cybertrader.com is the best. Its the best for the overallplatform, the costs, and the overall customer care they have. Many firms care very little about you ,all they want is for you to trade a lot and generate commissions. When there is a problem good luck and they have such a bad attitute. Cyber trader is a real class act.

Cyber trader is a real class act.
Unfortunately it's a "class act" that is unavailable to the majority of posters on this board, being esident in the UK, unless they have changed their policy recently

Appears roguetrader is correct. just read their "terms" , and uk residents can't open an acc

...strange, I had an account with them in 2000/2001. I moved to IB due to much lower commissions on US equities. Also at the time, unlike IB, CC couldn't simulate a market order to Island ECN, don't know whether that's changed ?
